Acrobat is the name of a family of software applications and servers developed by Adobe for the facilitation of digital documents. Acrobat revolves around the industry standard portable document format (PDF). There are a number of applications in the Acrobat family, however the primary software is the reader (Acrobat Reader - available on a number of Operating systems and platforms) and Acrobat itself which is used to create PDF documents. More recently Adobe have created Acrobat Connect which allows users to collaborate and communicate in realtime in a web conferencing environment.
