In connection with the web, Apache refers to the widely-spread and popular Apache HTTP-Server. Apache is the most popular of all HTTP Servers and in March 2007 58% of all sites were brought to us by an Apache Server. The Apache Server can be extended by using modules like mod_perl. Apache does also understand PHP. You can configure Apache, using a htaccess file.
