An Autoresponder is a program, which responds for you to every message you get. It was meant to be used for instance when you re in holiday and someone writes to you, so he would know, when you were going to come back. Webmasters however often used it as a marketing tool, signing up for example at dating sites with an email adress, only made for this purpose. Then, when they get mail, the Autoresponder sends a message back, saying you re in holiday but you could be reached on this webpage, or they should try out this service, which is of course an affliate.
