A banner is a graphic or image to show, who something or someone belongs to. In the middle-ages knights had banners, showing for which king they fought, for example. Today the major meaning of banner for a webmaster is a graphic (typically 468×60 big), representing one site. The image should somehow lead the viewer to click on the banner and visit the site.
