DHCP is an abbreviation for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. It is used to let a router or server give the ability to dynamically chose an IP Adress for every Device that requests one.
The Protocol itself is just rules, how the Device requesting an ip and the device giving out an ip should interact.
