What is Dreamweaver?

Adobe Dreamweaver is a workstation application developed by Macromedia, and now owned by Adobe, for the purpose of web development. Adobe Dreamweaver came from a background of web development applications including Drumbeat and UltraDev. Dreamweaver is a very powerful web development IDE that can harness the power of a development team or an individual developer. The interface is so refined that the application is perfect for beginners right through to seasoned professionals. Dreamweaver has extensive support for a large number of coding languages and web servers, such as; ColdFusion , PHP, ASP.NET / ASP and more as well as scripting languages including; VBScript and Javascript to name a few. Part of the power of Dreamweaver comes in it s easily programmable or downloadable extentions that can add new support for servers or added functionality to the application. It also has the ability to perform many functions through drag and drop and other easy to use functionalities, if you want to use them. Recent additions (Adobe Dreamweaver CS3) include better support for CSS, RSS and AJAX as well as better support for their ColdFusion server. Dreamweaver is available for Microsoft Windows and Apple MacOS. Apple has no plans to port Dreamweaver to any other platform.
