A firewall is either an extra computer, through which all Traffic which is either leaving an internal network or entering it, must pass or an application, which again all outgoing or incoming traffic (but this time of only one computer) must pass.
What the firewall actually does is the following: It filters all the traffic for evil packets and deletes them or puts them in a log. It prevents this traffic from entering the network or computer, therefore ensuring the network/computers safety. |
