Hexadecimal, often simply called hex is a number system, which is based on the number 16. If you count in hex, it looks like this:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F
The numbers in the hexadecimal system can easily be converted in both, the decimal and the binary system, and that s why it is often used on computers, to represent a byte.
