What is Hibernate?
The term
hibernate refers to the action of hibernating your
Microsoft
Windows
operating system. A user can
hibernate
their system via the shutdown menu in
Windows.
When they do this the system will keep all open applications, software and
services running when you restart
Windows
again. Hibernating your
Windows
operating system will shut it down (ie. power it off). It is common for users of
a notebook computer (laptop) to have their
Windows
operating system
hibernate
when they close them up (to the point of latching the screen part to the
keyboard
part). Hibernating writes all of the memory containing information in relation
to your current
Windows state to hard disk so that it can be read directly back into memory
when you start it up next. |
