An intranet is a private network, mostly used for companies, like a company LAN. The intranet is usually setup by an organization for it employees to use it. Intranets are set up like the internet, with things such as data posted to web pages that are accessed using a web browser. These intranets can have many purposes  like making company publications available to the employees, and enabling the employees to communicate to each other so they can work together on projects.
