A keyboard is standard human interface device for computers to facilitate the interaction between computer operating system and software, and the user. A keyboard typically consists of a wide tray of labelled buttons which represent the alphabet of your language as well as numerical keys (often including a spacially separated numerical keypad) and a set of standard function keys. Depending on the cost and extravagance of your keyboard it could also include any of the following; power control keys, home, end, page up, page down keys, Internet related kets and sound control keys. Some dedicated keyboards also have functionality to fit a particular application (eg music creation) or game. Keyboards usually interface with your computer via a cable that connects by serial port, PS/2 port or the newer USB port, they can also be wireless, however the base station receiver will be connected by one of the afore mentioned ports. |
