What is Longhorn?
Longhorn
was the early codename for the operating system
software
developed by
Microsoft that later was sold commercially as
Microsoft
Windows
Vista
(released early 2007 to the public). It follows the long held tradition by
Microsoft
developers to name their pre-release development operating systems after popular
ski resorts that
Microsoft
employees frequent. The next
Microsoft
server operating system (after
Windows
Server 2003) was also sometimes referred to as
Longhorn
server. |
