PC refers to a Personal Computer. This is your typical desktop computer (tower, keyboard, mouse, monitor). A personal computer is one that is designed for one person to operate and will function as a stand alone computer and perform all of its operations itself, not requiring the connectivity of a network to do the computing work. PCs have included; Apple personal computers (Macintosh, iMac), IBM personal computers and others that no longer exist such as ATARI, COMMODORE (64, Amiga) and many more. Today PCs can generally refer to IBM compatible WinTel machines (Windows OS software and Intel or AMD CPU chipsets). These days many people do not refer to Apple personal computers as a PC.
