Perl is an open source cross platform dynamic programming language which takes best features from other languages, such as C, awk, sed, sh, and BASIC and supports both procedural and object-oriented programming. It was created by Larry Wall and is considered as one of the most popular web programming languages because of its string processing capabilities and rapid development cycle.
