What is Registry?
The registry
is a Microsoft
Windows
technology that stores data in a flatfile text
database
that through read / write operations can be interacted with to keep
software
and operating system settings (such as user data and hardware information) and
variables as well as store recently used items for applications or the operating
system. The
registry can get very big if you use or try a lot of different
software
and should be optimized if you find your system running slowly. The
registry
can be edited manually by users using an application in
Windows
called Regedit, however manual edits to the
registry
should only be made by advanced users or those very familiar with the registry. |
