A shortcut is a way of quickly accessing a folder or some software on your computer via an picture (icon) or text representation that links to the actual folder or software in question. This enables the user to place shortcut links on the desktop or a toolbar for easy one click access without having to actually replicate the entire software program to the quick access location. A shortcut can also be a keyboard shortcut which provides quick access to software menu items or action via a keystroke or multiple simultanious keystrokes.
