USB is the term to describe the new standard (Universal serial Bus) for cabling and connectors to replace what use to be serial and parallel cables. The USB standard was devised to make it easy to develop hardware for many different computers and operating systems with just one cabling connection system. Every few years the standard changes slightly, mostly for improved speed, however the cables and connectors are always backwards compatible. USB is most commonly used for items such as; thumbdrives, digital cameras, web cams, mouses and keyboards. |
