WHOIS is an online hosted Internet service that facilitates the lookup (query) of a WHOIS database of domain name registration information. Information that you can retrieve from WHOIS could include; a domain name mapped to a given IP address, date the domain name was registered, who registered it (or administers it) and how to contact them.
